Important Notice Concerning 2024 NJ Rain Sensor Legislation

NOTICE REGARDING NEW RAIN SENSOR/WI-FI SMART CONTROLLER LEGISLATION

As an irrigation contractor, Dew Drop Lawn Sprinklers is required to provide our customers with notice regarding new Rain Sensor/Wi-Fi Smart Controller Legislation:

On January 16, 2024, Governor Phil Murphy signed legislation into law, A-1755 McKeon/S-2505 Smith, as Public Law 2024, Chapter 299 that requires those with an automatic lawn sprinkler system to install an automatic rain sensor or Wi-Fi smart controller for water conservation purposes. An operational automatic rain sensor is defined as a device or switch that will override the irrigation cycle of the automatic lawn sprinkler system when adequate rainfall has occurred. Links to the legislation and amendments can be found below.  Pursuant to the legislature, contractors are required to notify their customers, past and present, of this new law.

In light of the new Legislation, Dew Drop’s Technicians will check your lawn sprinkler system at Activation this Spring to confirm you have a rain sensor and to make sure it is working. 

If you do not have a rain sensor, our Technician can install one at Activation.  If you do have a rain sensor, our Technician will check  the rain sensor to make sure it is working properly for the season. We will not install or replace your rain sensor without your prior consent.

Incorporating a rain sensor into your sprinkler system can provide numerous benefits, including water conservation, cost savings, convenience, and a healthier lawn.
